FDA clears Hevylite® IgA on SPAPLUS® to help monitor patients with IgA Myeloma
Binding Site announces FDA clearance of the Hevylite® IgA assay on the SPAPLUS® platform for monitoring IgA Multiple Myeloma (MM) patients.
This laboratory test uniquely measures the individual heavy + light chain isotypes of IgA immunoglobulins i.e. IgAκ and IgAλ.
IgA Myeloma can be difficult to monitor using current laboratory tests, especially due to co-migration of IgA monoclonal proteins with other serum proteins.
Hevylite provides a numerical value for both Hevylite IgA isotypes (e.g. IgAκ/IgAλ), which helps to overcome the ambiguity of electrophoresis.
Hevylite IgA is a complementary assay to Freelite, the free light chain assay; both assays may be used together for monitoring of Myeloma patients.
